When did you start making music and what was the contributor factor that made you to do so?

I started playing the at nine. My mother was an accordionist and the music has been around me since I was born. I’ve always had a strong attraction for the seven notes, it was all very natural.

How hard was it for you to create, record and release your first material?

It was not very difficult to start writing my first pieces.

I had the initial idea in mind for some time and only had to develop it.

The registration phase was more complicated. Over the years I have learned to record and produce my own music, in my small studio. At the beginning, publishing an album is very difficult. You are not known and getting a contract with a small record company is almost a miracle. I succeeded and this immediately gave me the opportunity to introduce my music.

What is the main art form that influenced you in creating? Was it only music or did movies and other forms of art influenced your creative process?

My biggest source of inspiration is nature, the most beautiful and fascinating artistic work that exists. During my long walks in the mountains I can find the silence that I need to concentrate all my thoughts towards music. The beauty of the landscapes that I find, the clouds that seem to touch you, give me everything I need to compose.

What are the steps that an idea takes before becoming a fully fledge song? And how does that idea affects the way you build an album from the ground up?

I don’t follow the steps outlined. Sometimes the idea comes from a melody, other times from a harmonic circle. In some cases I start writing thinking about an image or a color. Each piece has its own story, each melody represents a precise moment. Until now I have never started from a general idea to then develop a concept album. They are fragments, different stories.

What do you consider the most important traits that a song and an album must have before you consider it to be completed?

I must have the feeling of listening to a song by another person, as if someone were telling me his story. When this happens I can enjoy what I wrote. At that point I decide to finish the work.

What are the actual steps that you take when you are creating? Do you need to enter or go to a certain setting in order to get creative?

I have no particular moments where I start writing. For me it is work, every day I put my hands on the piano and develop an idea. This allows me to refine my writing and continue my Sonora experimentation.

Except art are there any other external or internal factors that influence you when you create, if so what are they?

Sometimes I can find inspiration from the simplest moments. For example, when I’m sitting at the bar having a coffee and smoking a cigarette. Or while I am walking in the center of Verona and I stop to observe the empty square during the first hours of the morning.

What is your main motivation to create and be creative?

I’m a researcher. I love to find harmony chords and textures that allow me to best express an idea. I write continuously, I have released five albums and two EP in three years. My need to write is the same as my need to live.

How long does it take to go from a song to an album from scratch to the fully recorded version?

There is no rule. For some albums I worked months, for a few more weeks. It really depends on the use of the equipment I need at that particular time.

Do you take multiple takes of the songs before settling on the final version or do you go with the flow and just do one take?

I usually try to stay focused on one version and complete it. When I start a song I already have the general idea and how to complete it.

During live shows what do you like to do more, experiment and improvise on the basis of the existing album and songs or you are more likely to recreate the recorded material as faithfully as possible?

I really like improvising and I change the order of the pieces very often. Each concert is a story in itself. The public’s energy is different at every opportunity and I try to turn it into something unique.

What are the main ingredients that makes a live show special for you?

The energy that is created during the live. Silence and attention in the room become material, you can feel and touch them.

Do new ideas appear during live performances? If so how to do you proceed in order to materialize them?

Some pieces were born from the improvisations I created during the live but my creative process needs another kind of concentration to be fully productive. My studio is always the best place to develop my ideas.

What is the perfect time of day and weather that makes you creative?

I don’t have a particular moment of the day in which I prefer to work. I usually write in the morning, which is the first thing I do during the day.

What are your future plans and what advice do you have for people that want to get into creating music?

I have a new album in the works. To all the people who want to take my path I say only one thing, cultivate your passion every day with care and dedication.
